JKUAT recently held their annual beauty pageant at Charter hall Nairobi. The outcome was Buno Woche Gache as the King and Michelle Syokau as the queen of the podium. Commonly referred as ‘Juja boys’ in jest, JKUAT paraded the best of their fly guys and hot ladies in a night of glamour.
Since the crowning, Buno has had to adapt to his new title. He is now more popular and more is expected of him. He has to watch his mannerisms and also live up to the name.
He is an outgoing technology enthusiast who likes to explore new opportunities. He also loves languages and he recently started a German club at the campus. His other hobbies include dancing, basketball and reading.
Meanwhile, Michelle participated in the competition by a chance. She had accompanied a friend to the auditions and decided to take part. The B.Sc student has never modelled before though she has all what it takes to be a successful one. Standing at more than 6ft tall, she is an outgoing person whose smile is contagious.
Michelle aims to use her position to organise events aimed at raising bursary for the needy students. She would also like to organise community service initiatives both in the campus and the neighbouring community. On a lighter side, Michelle would like to banish the image of ‘Juja boys’ which has for long been associated with JKUAT.
Her hobbies include shopping and fashion. She has had to make a few adjustments to her lifestyle just like Buno now that she is Miss JKUAT. She is conscious on where to hang out and with whom. Her parting shot? “Never give up and believe in yourself”.
