NAIROBI, Kenya, May 12 – Inkomoko has been ranked the fifth fastest-growing private company in Africa by the Financial Times, rising from eighth position last year.
The ranking marks the second consecutive year the organization has appeared on the Financial Times list, which measures companies based on compound annual growth rates between 2021 and 2024.
Founded in 2012, Inkomoko supports entrepreneurs in displacement-affected communities across Rwanda, Kenya, Ethiopia, South Sudan and Chad by providing business training, affordable financing and market access.
Since launching operations in Kenya in 2019, the organization says it has partnered with more than 36,000 entrepreneurs across six locations, including refugees, women, youth and local business owners.
Margaret Mengo said the recognition reflects the resilience of entrepreneurs operating in displacement-affected communities and the growing role of inclusive investment in strengthening local economies.
To date, Inkomoko says it has invested more than $37.5 million and supported over 120,000 entrepreneurs across East and Central Africa, impacting about 1.2 million people.
The organization plans to invest $150 million by 2030 to support 550,000 entrepreneurs across Africa as it expands into new markets and scales operations in existing regions.
