HR players urge Kenyan firms to embrace tech for enhanced workplace productivity

NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 28 – Stakeholders in Kenya’s human resource sector are calling on organizations across the country to integrate technology into their daily operations to enhance their HR practices.

By leveraging innovations such as artificial intelligence and data analytics, the HR professionals argued that Kenyan organizations can enhance talent management, drive organizational performance, and foster inclusive workplace cultures.

They were speaking Friday when the College of Human Resource Management, in collaboration with other stakeholders from the HR sector, launched a new book titled “The HR Profession in Kenya.”

The book, authored by Samson Osero, delves into the history, evolution, legislation, and future of HR in Kenya.

“I wrote this book to explore the history, the evolution, the legislation, and the future of HR in Kenya so that HR professionals, students, scholars, and other people interested in HR can get information on where this profession has come from and where it is headed,” Osero stated.

Osero reiterated the need for HR professionals to have information regarding where the profession is headed in order to keep pace with global advancements.

This, he says, will make it easier for HR professionals to equip themselves with the necessary skills and knowledge to enable them to execute their HR work.

Margaret Kinyanjui, Principal of the College of Human Resource Management, praised Osero’s commitment to advancing the HR profession.

“This book is a reflection of his commitment, even in retirement, to advancing the HR profession and enhancing the knowledge base within our professional community,” Kinyanjui said.

Looking ahead, Kinyanjui emphasized the evolving role of HR in response to emerging trends and challenges.

“Technological advances such as artificial intelligence and data analytics are transforming how we manage talent and drive organizational performance,” she said.

Additionally, Kinyanjui stated that the growing emphasis on diversity, equity, and inclusion in reshaping workplace cultures and expectations calls for more investment towards the growth of the sector.

Kinyanjui affirmed the college’s commitment to preparing the next generation of HR leaders to navigate these changes effectively.

“We are continuously updating our curriculum, fostering partnerships with industry, and promoting research to ensure that our graduates are equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to excel in the modern workplace,” she said.
