August 15, 2011 –It seems that we can expect more kung-fu-fighting and bamboo-flying flicks coming to a movie theater near us.
Hollywood heavyweight, Relativity Media, the studio behind box office hits like the hilarious “Bridesmaids” and “Cowboys & Aliens,” have announced that it is partnering with two firms to make Chinese films.
With just over 1.3 billion people, China is one of the fastest growing film markets in the World.
Relativity Media together with its Chinese partners will produce Chinese films for global audiences, and also will invest in local film and TV production.
Chinese folklore has proved to be high-paying box office hits over the years with classics like “Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon” and “Hero”. Relativity Media hopes to bring more popular Chinese folklore tales to moviegoers all over the World.
