NAIROBI, Kenya — A man who allegedly posed as an Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) investigator has been arrested after attempting to extort a multi-million-shilling bribe from a private contractor.

The Commission says the suspect targeted a director of a private company contracted to handle projects for the Narok County Government and falsely claimed that the firm was under active investigation for corruption.

To halt the alleged investigation, the suspect demanded a bribe of Sh2 million.

Detectives caught the suspect red-handed as he received an initial installment of Sh200,000.
