NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 9 – Former Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich has declined his appointment by President William Ruto as the Budget Policy Advisor.
He has instead elected to pursue reinstatement at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK), his former employer.
A day ago, President Ruto appointed Rotich as the Senior Advisor on Fiscal Affairs and Budget Policy after the prosecution dropped charges against him in the Arror and Kimwarer dams case.
The prosecution had failed to demonstrate charges associated with Rotich to specific breaches under procurement and public finance management laws.
Before his appointment as a Cabinet Secretary in 2013, Rotich was the head of Macroeconomics at the Treasury.
He was removed from this position on January 14, 2020, and was replaced by Ukur Yatani.
He also holds a Master’s degree in Economics and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Sociology from the University of Nairobi.
