NAIROBI, Kenya, May 5 — Edukans Kenya has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with The Kisumu National Polytechnic to roll out a green skills curriculum targeting the textile and fashion industry, in a move aimed at fostering sustainability in technical and vocational training.
The partnership is part of the broader Wear the Green Future (WtGF) project and seeks to embed circular economy principles into Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) programmes.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will co-develop training modules focused on sustainable fashion design, eco-friendly production, waste reduction, and circular innovation in textiles. The goal is to train 2,300 young people with market-relevant, environmentally conscious skills.
“This collaboration will strengthen the relevance of TVET in Kenya and contribute to the country’s agenda on green jobs and sustainable economic growth,” the institutions said in a joint statement.
The programme aligns with national efforts to promote green innovation and environmental stewardship across key economic sectors.
