NAIROBI, Kenya, June 10 – Danser Kenya will host a free music and culture showcase in Ruaka on Sunday, bringing together some of Kenya’s leading contemporary artists as demand grows for alternative entertainment experiences among young audiences.
The event, to be held at Tuscany KE, will feature performances by Njerae, Tha Movement, Ayrosh, Chris Kaiga, Billy Black and Mutoria, alongside visual art installations, body art experiences and themed creative spaces.
Organisers say the event follows a similar showcase recently held in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, reflecting efforts to build regional platforms that combine live music, culture and community engagement.
The showcase comes at a time when Kenya’s alternative music scene is gaining traction, driven by a new generation of artists attracting audiences through independent releases, digital platforms and live performances.
Industry players note that experiential events that blend music, art, fashion and social interaction are becoming increasingly popular, creating new opportunities for artists, event organisers and creative entrepreneurs.
The event will be free to attend, although entry will be limited by venue capacity, with organisers requiring advance registration for access passes.
Kenya’s creative economy has continued to expand in recent years, supported by growing youth participation, digital distribution channels and increased demand for locally produced entertainment content.
