NAIROBI, Kenya, June 27 – Kenya will soon be able to acquire affordable electric vehicles (EVs) through a partnership between Kenyan EV company Autopax and SGMW, a Chinese automotive manufacturer.
The two firms have signed an engineering and partnership agreement for the production of cheap EVs at their offices in Liuzhou, Guangxi in China.
Autopax was represented by its founder Isaac Kalua Green while SGMW was represented by its Directors and the team leader of Oversees Business and Engineering Center Lisa Li.
The collaboration is part of Autopax’s goal of ‘Mobility for Life’ which seeks to promote the uptake of sustainable transportation and a green future in the country.
The CEO of Autopax Joy Kalua confirmed that the company has already received the first batch of Autopax AirEv YETU vehicles here in Kenya for pre-launch trials ahead of the official launch.
They come in two models such as Autopax AirEv YETU with 200 kilometers of driving capability on full charge and Autopax AirEv YETU Pro, which covers 300 kilometers on full charge.
The Autopax CEO says that the AirEv YETU EVs have been tested for the convenience of all local users.
