Abdalla Komesha appointed acting DIG after Mbugua exit

Nairobi, Kenya, Mar 22 – The National Police Service Commission (NPSC) has appointed Abdalla Komesha to the position of Deputy Inspector General in an acting capacity following the retirement of DIG  Edward Mbugua.

Komesha,will serve in the position for 14 days pending the appointment of the new DIG according to NPSC Chairman Eliud Kinuthia.

On Tuesday , DIG Mbugua handed over to Komesha in a brief ceremony held at Vigilance House.

The ceremony was witnessed by Kenya Police Service  Directors.

Until his appointment, Komesha, a career detective, was the Principal Assistant to the Inspector General-NPS.

Mbugua thanked the NPS officers across the country  for the support that they accorded him during his tenure.

The NPSC published an advertisement in the local dailies Tuesday seeking to replace Mbugua.

Mbugua had hit the 60-year retirement age in 2020 but his contract was extended and was to end in July 2023.
