NAIROBI, Kenya, Dec 16 – Ukwala Supermarket, which has been in liquidation since 2019, is set to hold its final creditors’ meeting on December 20.
Its liquidator, Peter Kahi, in a gazette notice, announced that the key agenda for the meeting includes providing a comprehensive update on the liquidation process, presenting a full account of liquidation activities, and voting on the final creditors’ meeting.
The virtual meeting aims to conclude the liquidation process for Ukwala Supermarket, which has faced significant financial challenges over the past few years.
Kahi stressed that creditors who cannot attend are encouraged to appoint a proxy, who need not be a member of the company, to represent them.
The retailer in 2018 filed for liquidation over debts owed to suppliers and the Kenya Revenue Authority.
The debt had accumulated to over Sh1 billion against its total assets valued at slightly over Sh19 million.
