NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 15 – Standard Chartered Bank Kenya has introduced an investment platform targeting wealthy investors, offering access to four professionally managed investment strategies across different assets and markets.
The Signature Select Variable Capital Company (VCC) platform allows eligible investors to spread their money across different investment strategies instead of relying on a single portfolio.
The four strategies are managed by global investment firms T. Rowe Price, BlackRock, Allianz Global Investors and PIMCO.
Standard Chartered said it approached the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) about four months ago to establish the platform, which has since attracted more than $20 million in assets under management.
Head of Affluent and Wealth Solutions, EMEA and UAE, Ayesha Abbas, said investors were moving beyond traditional saving towards structured wealth management.
“The investment journey has evolved from saving to investing and now towards structured wealth management,” Abbas said.
She said investors were increasingly considering how to manage risk, maintain access to their money and plan for the future.
A VCC is a structure that can hold several investment strategies, known as sub-funds, with each having its own investment objectives.
The platform targets sophisticated investors whose financial needs have become more complex as they seek to preserve and transfer their wealth.
Investment experts at the launch advised investors to spread their investments across assets and markets while considering their risk tolerance and long-term financial goals.
