NAIROBI, Kenya, Sep 29 – Schneider Electric has introduced its Vivace E range of switches and sockets to the East African market, targeting modern residential, commercial and hospitality spaces.
The new range is part of Schneider Electric’s Vivace portfolio, which has been in the market for more than two decades, and features a slim profile, frameless panels and curved corners.
“Switches and sockets are often small details within a space, but they are also among the elements people interact with every day,” said Geraldine Sande, Channel Sales Leader at Schneider Electric East Africa.
“Vivace E reflects our understanding that customers want more from these everyday products. They want something that looks beautiful, feels good to use and delivers the quality and reliability for which Schneider Electric is known.”
The range has been designed with features aimed at improving ease of use, installation and maintenance.
For the hospitality sector, Vivace E includes Do Not Disturb (DND) indicators, keycard switches, mechanical curtain switches, bell switches, night foot lamps, panic buttons and international switched sockets.
The products also feature quick-release latches that allow individual switches or the entire cover plate to be removed, helping electricians carry out installation and maintenance more efficiently.
The enlarged socket terminals can accommodate two 4mm² cables, allowing easier wiring and connections where larger cables are required. Mounting screws are also designed to simplify installation.
Safety and sustainability
Schneider Electric said safety is a key feature of the Vivace E range, which includes double-pole switched sockets and integrated safety shutters designed to prevent accidental contact with live parts.
The products also use materials compliant with applicable REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) and RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment) requirements.
Other features include a slim, frameless design with an edge-to-edge cover plate, Glossy White and Matte Black finishes, rounded corners and a smooth-touch mechanism.
The range also includes 16AX-rated switches, USB A+C switched sockets, a dedicated 21W USB charger and dual grounding connectors on double-pole switches.
Schneider Electric said the products comply with applicable BS and IEC standards.
The company said the Vivace E range is intended to combine contemporary design with functionality, safety and reliability in everyday electrical installations.
