NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 14 — Deputy President William Ruto’s presidential campaign on Monday announced the commencement of countrywide consultative meetings to onboard concerns of people at the bottom of the economic pyramid in the UDA manifesto.
Ruto’s listening tours will take him to all the 47 counties beginning with Nyeri.
“This is part of the ongoing hustler nation discourse where Kenyans in the agriculture and business sectors at the bottom of the economic and social pyramid will priorities their needs and propose the solutions to transform their economic welfare,” Ruto’s Presidential Campaign Director of Communications Hussein Mohammed said.
Mohammed noted that the process which is scheduled in March 2022 will see charters signed at the county and national level and will be used to hold leadership accountable to the priorities of the people.
“Bottom up means listening up and not talking down to citizens. It means citizens organized around their economic interests determining their priorities and leaders committing publicly to implement those priorities once elected,” he said.
Ruto will be in the Central Kenya region for a weeklong campaign blitz where he will be popularizing his bid and the Kenya Kwanza Alliance.
Ruto’s tour in the region will be the first with his new found partners including ANC Party Leader Musalia Mudavadi and FORD Kenya’s Moses Wetangula who will use the opportunity to rally the region to back their alliance.
After Nyeri County, according to his itinerary, Ruto will proceed to Kirinyaga County on Tuesday followed by tours in the counties of Murang’a, Embu, Thika and Kiambu in Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday respectively.
