The Regenerative Fashion Collective Exchange (ReFaCE) is delighted to announce the successful conclusion of its recent forum held on 16 June 2023.
The event brought together industry leaders, stakeholders, and visionaries in the fashion sector to discuss and collaborate on establishing a regenerative textile industry and certification standard for regenerative products in Africa. The forum served as a catalyst for change, promoting regenerative sustainability, restoring cultural heritage, and climate action in the fashion industry.
The forum, held under the theme “Regenerative Fashion in Africa,” was a landmark gathering that facilitated vibrant discussions, knowledge sharing, and networking opportunities. Participants from diverse backgrounds including fashion brands, textile manufacturers, policymakers, environmental organizations, and farming community representatives engaged in thought-provoking conversations, inspiring action and driving positive change.
Highlights of the forum included introductions to ReFaCE by its Creator, Lisa Kibutu, and Dr. Emmanuel Nzai, CEO Jumuiya yaa Kaunti za Pwani, the economic bloc of Kenya Coast region, and World Cafe methodology discussions led by Nayla Hatimy, an industry expert, who directed interactive workshops, and engaging sessions. Participants explored various topics such as sustainable sourcing, regenerative textile production, supply chain transparency, cultural heritage preservation, and the role of certification standards in promoting responsible fashion practices. The forum served as a platform to identify challenges, exchange innovative ideas, and build collaborations for a more sustainable and regenerative fashion industry in Africa.
Notable speakers and panelists shared their expertise and experiences, inspiring attendees with their vision for a fashion industry that embraces ethical practices and nurtures the environment and local communities. The forum also provided a platform for the top Kenyan international designers to showcase their sustainable collections, demonstrating the immense creative potential in regenerative fashion.
