NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 11 – The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has said that it will not renew Bolt’s operating licence in Kenya until numerous complaints from drivers, including booking fees, and illegal commission charges are ironed out.
The denial comes after the Estonian-founded firm requested a licence renewal with a few days remaining before it lapses.
“Please note that the Authority is not able to proceed with renewal of your operator licence until when the issues raised by drivers and their representatives are satisfactorily addressed and rectified,” read a letter by NTSA to Bolt.
In the letter, the regulator wants the ride-sharing company to submit measures it will take to address the above complaints.
In Kenya, Bolt has signed up over 50,000 drivers since it entered in 2016.
