NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 22 – The National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) has delivered a major blow to the illicit alcohol trade, seizing over 27,000 litres of illegal brews in coordinated multi-agency operations across Nairobi and Nyakach.

The following day, on August 22, officers conducted an extensive crackdown in North East Nyakach Location, targeting illicit alcohol production and distribution networks in partnership with the National Police Service (NPS), chiefs, and village elders.

Since December 2025, more than 2.8 million litres of illicit alcohol have been seized and over 970 suspects arrested nationwide .
NACADA’s Director of Legal Services, Leackey Illa, who spearheaded the operations, confirmed that the Authority will not relent in its enforcement efforts.
“This is a clear demonstration of our commitment to dismantling the illicit alcohol trade and protecting public health,” he stated.
