Nov 24 – Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called for the establishment of a Global Framework for Talent Mobility as he addressed the G20 Summit, urging a shift from preparing for the “jobs of today” to building the “capabilities of tomorrow,” according to a statement from India’s Ministry of External Affairs.
The proposed framework aims to ease the movement of skilled professionals across borders and deepen global cooperation on talent and development. Modi reminded the summit of progress made during the New Delhi G20 Summit and urged member states to work together to advance the initiative in the coming years.
He also invited all G20 countries to participate in the AI Impact Summit 2026, scheduled for February next year, under the theme “Sarvajanam Hitaya, Sarvajanam Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all).
Push for Human-Centric Technology & Global AI Compact
Speaking during the G20 session titled “A Fair and Just Future for All”, Modi called for a global compact on Artificial Intelligence (AI), rooted in equitable access, population-level skilling and responsible deployment.
He stressed that critical technologies must be human-centred, global in outlook, and built on open-source foundations, rather than driven by financial or exclusive models. India’s own technological ecosystem—spanning digital payments, AI applications and space technology—was cited as an example of how inclusive innovation can deliver broad societal benefits.
Under the India-AI Mission, Modi noted, the country is building accessible high-performance computing capacity to ensure that AI benefits reach all citizens. He emphasised that AI must ultimately contribute to the “global good.”
Modi concluded by reaffirming India’s commitment to global well-being, stressing support for sustainable development, trusted trade, fair finance and inclusive progress.
