NAIROBI, Kenya, June 24 – L’Oréal’s Nairobi Plant has earned the RoSPA Gold Award, an international benchmark for health and safety excellence, marking the company’s first participation in the prestigious programme.
The award, issued by the UK-based Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), recognises world-class occupational safety practices. L’Oréal’s Nairobi operation is now among the few facilities globally to achieve the honour on its debut entry.
“This Gold Award is a powerful testament to the commitment of our Nairobi team,” said Marie Van Haesendonck, L’Oréal East Africa. “It confirms that safety is deeply embedded in our operations and culture.”
The award was celebrated at a ceremony held at the plant, drawing stakeholders from government, manufacturing, and regulatory bodies.
Dr. Andrew Muruka, Director at the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Services, praised the milestone as “a shining example” of private sector leadership in safety. Kenya Association of Manufacturers CEO Tobias Alando added that the win sets a high bar for the country’s manufacturing sector.
L’Oréal says it will continue strengthening safety protocols and staff training to maintain high standards across its operations.
