MAY 25 – Jubilee Insurance, in partnership with Keino Sports, on Monday hosted the Athletes Financial Literacy and Investment Seminar in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, drawing over 100 athletes for a day-long session focused on personal finance, investment, and long-term wealth planning.
The forum aimed to bridge the financial knowledge gap within the sporting community by offering insights into money management, health and estate planning, and wealth-building tools—timely conversations in a sector where peak earnings are often short-lived.
Jubilee Insurance Group CEO Dr. Julius Kipng’etich underscored the importance of financial education, especially for athletes navigating sudden wealth and unpredictable career spans.
“Athletes often overestimate how long they will earn and underestimate future expenses. Without trusted financial advice, many fall prey to lifestyle inflation and poor money choices,” he said.
Dr. Kipng’etich added that Jubilee Insurance continues to use its financial expertise to foster literacy through strategic partnerships, forums, and practical financial tools, championed under its “There’s Living and There’s Living Free” campaign. The initiative encourages financial resilience and intentional living.
Keino Sports Events CEO Martin Keino, a former middle-distance runner, said the forum held personal meaning.
“As a former athlete, I understand the uncertainty that comes after retirement. This is about giving others the financial guidance many of us never received,” he said.
The seminar is part of ongoing efforts by both partners to promote financial wellness and equip athletes with the tools to secure their futures beyond sports.
