NAIROBI, Kenya, Nov 8 – Chinese carmaker Jetour has officially debuted in the Kenyan market with a range of four mid-SUV models, targeting the country’s growing premium-mobility segment.
The units unveiled include the Jetour Dashing, Jetour X70, Jetour T-Series, and Jetour T2, which will be distributed locally through Global Motor Center, the brand’s official partner in Kenya.
Speaking during the launch, Jetour International Vice President Andy Yuan said the entry marks the beginning of a long-term commitment to Kenya’s automotive industry.
“Our aim is to deliver a top-quality experience for travellers through the highest standards of craftsmanship and service,” he said.
“We want to bring this level of quality directly to our consumers here in Kenya.”
Yuan said the company plans to introduce more models in the coming years as it grows its footprint across Africa.
On his part, Jetour Kenya Managing Director Farouk Sheikh said the firm’s investment extends beyond vehicle sales.
“Our commitment goes beyond simply selling cars we are investing in local talent for skills development and partnering with Kenyan businesses to strengthen mobility across the country,” he said.
“We are proud to contribute to Kenya’s growing automotive industry and play our part in driving economic growth and sustainability. Our vehicles are designed with the Kenyan driver in mind.”
Sheikh disclosed that Jetour will expand its presence to major towns including Mombasa, Kisumu, Eldoret, Nanyuki, and Nakuru, while working towards setting up a local assembly facility to create jobs and scale down the cost of its vehicles.
The brand also plans to gradually introduce electric and hydrogen-powered vehicles to complement its current petrol and hybrid lineup, aligning with Kenya’s green mobility goals.
Industrialisation Secretary at the Ministry of Trade and Investment, Erastus Gabete, who attended the launch, lauded the move, saying it supports Kenya’s push for local vehicle assembly and job creation.
Founded in 2018, Jetour is a subsidiary of Chery Holding Group and has rapidly expanded in over 50 markets globally.
The brand’s “Travel+” strategy focuses on offering smart, stylish and value-driven SUVs that cater to modern lifestyles.
