Calvo Mistari & Naiboi Return With “Baddest” – New Single, As They Build Momentum Towards Joint Album ‘308’

Kenyan music powerhouses Calvo Mistari and Naiboi are back again with their brand-new single, “Baddest” – released under their new publishing imprint Room 308. The track, produced by Dillie with assistance from Musyoka who mixed and mastered it, marks the fifth release from their forthcoming joint album, “308”, following the growing success of previous singles: “Rudisha”, “All My Dreams“, “Zama” & “The Prize”.

“Baddest” is a feel-good afro-pop record featuring live guitar arrangements by Benjamin Kabaseke and bass guitar contributions from Sedar Malaki, with additional background vocals from Amileena. The title “Baddest” is inspired by the song’s central character, the confident, captivating woman who effortlessly commands attention whenever she walks into a room.

Speaking about the release, the duo shared: “Baddest is all about good vibes. It’s about that person who walks into a room and immediately captures everyone’s attention. We wanted the song to feel fun, uplifting and make people want to dance. More than anything, we want listeners to enjoy the energy and feel-good spirit behind it.”

Written in an unexpected but memorable setting, “Baddest” was born during a casual evening as the duo prepared dinner together. With producer Dillie’s beat playing on repeat in the background, inspiration struck naturally. “We were actually cooking dinner when the song happened,” recalls Calvo Mistari. “Naiboi had the beat playing on loop and we just started feeding off each other’s energy. We laid the intro, then my verse and from there the song began taking shape.”

“Baddest” captures the energy of meeting someone who instantly stands out from the crowd. The African-inspired guitar melodies and infectious groove deliver a sound that feels both fresh and familiar, highlighting the duo’s continued evolution as artists.

The release continues the creative momentum behind Room 308, a collaborative venture that brings together the talents of Calvo Mistari and Naiboi as they prepare to unveil more music from their forthcoming album. The project also features a number of exciting collaborations that reflect the duo’s shared vision and musical growth.

Calvo Mistari and Naiboi have been living between Kenya and the US, building on new ventures and opportunities. The duo first teamed up for their 2021 hit “Situation”, and over the past decade, they’ve become some of Kenya’s most influential music creators. As rappers, producers, songwriters and performers, they’ve played a pivotal role in shaping Kenya’s urban music scene.
