April 2025 HR Exam Results Show Higher Pass Rates, Female Dominance

NAIROBI, Kenya, May 12 – The Human Resource Management Professionals Examination Board (HRMPEB) has today released the results of the April 2025 Certified Human Resource Professional (CHRP) and Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) examinations.

This marks the first release under the newly introduced three-exam annual calendar aimed at improving flexibility and accessibility for HR professionals in Kenya.

The examinations, administered across twelve centers countrywide between April 9 and April 16, 2025, covered candidates under the Old CHRP Curriculum, the Revised CHRP Curriculum, and CBET programs (Diploma and Craft Certificate levels).

A total of 1,497 candidates were examined under both CHRP curriculums — an increase from 1,404 in November 2024.

Female candidates represented the majority with 76.6% under CHRP and 71.3% under CBET, highlighting a growing gender disparity that the Board encourages stakeholders to address through inclusive industry programs.

Under the Old CHRP Curriculum, 390 candidates were examined. The average pass rate stood at 87.56%, with a collective mean score of 59.99%.

The Board noted a sharp decline in enrollments under the old syllabus, with its final administration scheduled for November 2025.

In the Revised CHRP Curriculum, 1,107 candidates were assessed — up from 947 in the previous series.

The average pass rate recorded an impressive 92.05%, with an improved overall mean score of 62.07%, signaling a positive uptake and performance trajectory in the new curriculum.

The CBET Diploma exams attracted 202 candidates, up from 154 in November 2024. Results showed strong performance in Training and Development and Occupational Health and Safety Practices, while Accounting and Financial Management Skills posted the lowest average.

The CBET Craft Certificate exams recorded 59 candidates, maintaining stable participation. Across all curriculums, the combined average pass rate stood at 89.8%, reflecting a steady increase from the 88.6% recorded in November 2024.

HRMPEB Chairperson, in her address, praised the commitment and resilience of the candidates and acknowledged the tireless work of the secretariat and examination teams.

“This milestone demonstrates our shared dedication to professional excellence in HR practice. The shift to a three-sitting model underscores our commitment to greater inclusivity, flexibility, and timely certification for Kenya’s HR workforce,” she said.

The Board reaffirmed its commitment to uphold integrity, relevance, and innovation in HR certification and called on training institutions and industry players to continue supporting learners through mentorship, internships, and knowledge exchange.
