NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 28 – Africa-based electric mobility firm Agilitee has entered into a partnership with Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Taizhou Okla Automotive Co. Ltd (Okla Global) aimed at expanding the availability of electric vehicles across the continent.
Under the agreement, Agilitee has secured a master licence for the Okla brand in Africa, granting it exclusive rights to license, distribute and commercialise Okla’s electric mobility products within the region.
The transaction was advised by Treadway, a Hong Kong–based investment banking firm involved in facilitating Chinese investment into African industrial projects.
As part of the arrangement, Agilitee plans to roll out five electric scooter models, which it will distribute across selected African markets. The move comes amid growing interest by governments and private operators in electric mobility as a response to rising fuel costs and urban transport challenges.
Agilitee has previously engaged with African governments on projects linked to electric mobility, employment creation and local manufacturing, particularly targeting youth employment.
Separately, Treadway is involved in discussions with EPC contractors and energy investors on solar power projects for several African governments.
Agilitee said it will work with Treadway to support the licensing and distribution of the Okla brand as the Chinese manufacturer enters African markets.
