NAIROBI, Kenya, May 14 – Absa Bank Kenya has partnered with Women’s World Banking (WWB) to boost the growth of women-led small and medium enterprises (SMEs) across Kenya.
Signed during a WWB partners’ breakfast in Nairobi, the partnership will enhance Absa’s Women in Business (WiB) proposition by offering tailored financial and non-financial solutions, with a focus on increasing access to credit and business training.
“This collaboration merges Absa’s local expertise with WWB’s global insight to empower women entrepreneurs with tools to build sustainable businesses,” said Elizabeth Wasunna-Ochwa, Absa Kenya’s Director of Business Banking.
The first project under the deal will focus on women in agribusiness, a sector seen as critical yet underfinanced for women from underserved communities.
Mary Ellen Iskenderian, WWB President and CEO, said the partnership aims to unlock growth opportunities for women, strengthen resilience, and drive inclusive economic development.
Since launching its SHE proposition, Absa says it has supported over one million women entrepreneurs in Kenya.
