The July edition of a Taste of Expression was nothing short of a spectacular afternoon, laden with top tier dining and upper echelon art showcases. Revolutionary as they come, this 5th edition was helmed by an all-female creative collection, who turned Tigoni’s Como Restaurant into a stunning multiverse of gastronomy and art.
After a successful showcase in March, the brains behind Nafasi and A Taste of Expression Adhiambo Makena wasted no time putting together this follow-up edition. Attendees adhered to an aptly put “elegant” theme, further electrifying the day’s activities. Curated as a celebration of the conjunction between food and art, this edition’s femme fatale theme took things to the stratosphere with expertly executed multi-sensory goings-on, with immersive art and great food at the nucleus.
Como’s very own Chef Stephanie Kiragu reigned supreme on the culinary side. The Spanish-Swiss-American trained chef and sole proprietor of Como Tigoni took guests on a journey through carefully orchestrated food pairings, with The Singleton effortlessly crowning the several courses with ease.
Meanwhile, Christine Wambui serenaded the guests with soothing live vocals, while Angela Wambui showcased and demystified her eye-catching art. Pardis Khozoei of Sculpt Studio presented beautiful pieces of her wearable structures, mostly comprising of statement pieces that attendees showed copious amounts of enthusiasm to.

Reflecting on the success of the 5th edition, Makena told Capital Lifestyle: “One of my favorite things about this edition, beyond the all female line-up, is our recurring guests. To see this community steadily come together, in a space that highlights African expression, gives me colossal joy and buoys me to want to scale even higher,” She says.

A Taste of Expression is a partnership between Nafasi and The Singleton. It is an intimate and exclusive event; a perfect harmony of culinary creativity and art, and this edition’s guests enjoyed the opportunity to partake of Chef Stephanie’s culinary perfection, indulge in The Singleton’s smoothness, and experience Christine Wambu’s epic visual art, all in one evening.
