NAIROBI, Kenya Nov 17 – Woodford Reserve®, the world’s top-selling super-premium American whiskey, has officially entered the Kenyan market following a high-profile celebration of Old Fashioned Month held at Trademark Hotel on November 6.
The Nairobi event marked Kenya’s debut in the annual global festival, which is currently running across 20 markets to celebrate the world’s leading classic cocktail.
This year also marks the 10th anniversary of Old Fashioned Month, first launched in Paris in 2015. In Nairobi, consumers, hospitality guests and whiskey enthusiasts were invited to experience the signature serve and explore Woodford Reserve’s rich flavor profile.
“Old Fashioned Month has been curated for the discerning whiskey connoisseur. Guests get to enjoy an iconic cocktail that continues to thrive globally,” said David Mutunga, Brown-Forman’s East Africa Advocacy Lead. Brown-Forman distributes Woodford Reserve® locally.
Mutunga added that the event reinforces the company’s goal to grow Woodford Reserve’s visibility in East Africa while offering consumers a premium, responsibly enjoyed whiskey experience.
Woodford Reserve is also encouraging Kenyans to make their own Old Fashioned at home, a cocktail traditionally created with just three key ingredients: bourbon, sugar and bitters.
Both Woodford Reserve and the Old Fashioned trace their heritage to Kentucky. Historians credit the Pendennis Club in Louisville for first popularizing the cocktail’s name, before it was introduced to New York high society in 1881 by Col. James E. Pepper.
Today, the Old Fashioned remains the world’s top classic cocktail.
Old Fashioned Month continues to be a global celebration for bartenders, home mixologists and cocktail lovers alike.
