NAIROBI, Kenya, June 19 – THX22 Foundation has announced a Sh630,000 funding partnership with Rafiki Mwema, a non-profit organisation that provides therapeutic care and protection for traumatised and vulnerable children in Kenya.
The funds will support a two-part initiative at Rafiki Jasiri School in Nakuru, a sanctuary school operated by Rafiki Mwema. The project will provide school uniforms for children, giving each one a renewed sense of identity, dignity, and equality as they pursue education and healing.
This contribution aligns with THX22 Foundation’s mission to amplify the voices of the voiceless and empower communities at the grassroots level.
Rafiki Jasiri School was established to offer a safe, inclusive learning environment for children who cannot attend mainstream schools due to trauma or unsafe living conditions.
“This partnership is close to our hearts because it directly supports children who’ve experienced unimaginable trauma,” said Paolo Abenavoli, Head of Projects at THX22 Foundation. “We’re proud to champion their voices and be part of their journey toward healing through education.”
The support comes amid growing concerns over child abuse in Kenya. According to World Vision Kenya, around 150,000 children are sexually abused each year, with many cases going unreported due to stigma and fear.
“These numbers are a sobering reminder of the urgent need for collective action,” said Nicholus Njogu, Country Director at Rafiki Mwema. “We are incredibly grateful to THX22 Foundation. To our children, these uniforms symbolise hope, structure, and the belief that they are seen, heard, and valued.”
Rafiki Mwema provides long-term therapeutic care, safe accommodation, and reintegration support to children recovering from abuse and neglect.
This partnership reflects THX22 Foundation’s commitment to creating lasting social change and ensuring that vulnerable children are not left behind.
