TECNO launches Camon 50 Series in Kenya

NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 10 – Tecno Mobile has launched the Camon 50 series in Kenya, targeting consumers seeking mid-range smartphones with advanced camera and artificial intelligence features.

The move adds to growing competition in Kenya’s smartphone market as manufacturers increasingly integrate AI tools and high-performance cameras to attract younger and content-driven users.

The new lineup is led by the Camon 50 Pro, which features IP68, IP69 and IP69K water and dust resistance, allowing the device to operate in harsh environments and even support underwater photography.

According to the company, the smartphone includes enhanced camera capabilities designed to capture moving subjects and long-distance shots.

“The Camon 50 Pro features 3X Super-Zoom FlashSnap technology allowing users to capture fast-moving subjects with remarkable clarity,” the company said.

The device also integrates AI 60X Super Zoom and AI HD Enhancement to improve brightness, clarity and image detail.

The handset includes productivity tools powered by TECNO AI Hub 2026, which supports features such as summarising YouTube videos, organising notes and assisting users with daily tasks.

Additional applications such as AI SnapMemo and MindHub are designed to help users capture ideas and manage information directly on the device.

The Camon 50 Pro will retail in Kenya from Sh38,999, placing it within the mid-range smartphone segment that has seen rapid growth as consumers seek high-performance devices at lower price points.

Kenya remains one of the most competitive smartphone markets in East Africa, with brands such as Samsung Electronics, Xiaomi and Oppo competing for market share through camera upgrades, AI integration and aggressive pricing strategies.

Industry analysts say smartphone makers are increasingly focusing on photography, content creation and AI-powered productivity as key differentiators in the mid-range segment.
