Shell Club Supports Widowed Fathers in Kenya on Father’s Day

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 15 – Shell Club, the loyalty program run by Vivo Energy Kenya, marked Father’s Day by offering direct assistance to select long-time customers who are single or widowed fathers.

The initiative identified Shell Club members from various parts of the country and offered support in the form of school fee payments, business assistance, and household supplies. The selected individuals were nominated through Shell’s customer network.

Among those supported was 23-year-old John Maina, who became a guardian to his younger brothers after the death of their mother. He received funding to expand his small business.

John Munene, who has raised three children on his own following the death of his wife, was provided with school fee support and a local family trip. Another participant, David Githinji, lost his wife and newborn during childbirth and is now raising two children alone. He received assistance with rent and essential household items.

Vivo Energy Kenya confirmed that the effort was carried out through Shell Club’s existing customer channels and was aimed at offering practical assistance during the global Father’s Day weekend.

The company did not disclose how many individuals were selected nationwide or the full cost of the initiative. It said that the support focused on long-term loyalty program members identified by station attendants and digital engagement teams.

The project was part of a broader campaign conducted during the Father’s Day period and did not involve any promotional giveaways or commercial sales campaigns.
