NAIR9BI, Kenya, May 20 ‘Schneider Electric has launched a new innovation hub and hands-on training centre in Nairobi aimed at promoting energy technology, digitalisation and technical skills development in East Africa.
The facility, located at the company’s new offices along Mombasa Road, will serve as a demonstration centre for smart energy and automation technologies while also offering practical training for customers, engineers and industry partners.
The Innovation Hub showcases how connected systems can improve energy efficiency, building management and sustainability through integrated digital technologies.
The centre also includes a service and training facility where participants will receive practical experience working with Schneider Electric technologies and energy management systems.
Schneider Electric East Africa Country President Ifeanyi Odoh said the initiative is aimed at building local technical capacity and supporting digital transformation in the energy sector.
“Developing local capacity is critical to unlocking the full potential of digital transformation in energy,” Odoh said.
The Nairobi office itself has been fitted with several smart technologies, including automated lighting systems, energy-efficient power distribution systems, backup power solutions, environmental monitoring systems and centralized building management controls.
The systems allow real-time monitoring of energy use, temperature, air quality and other operational functions.
Schneider Electric Chairman Jean-Pascal Tricoire said the company sees East Africa as a key market for energy innovation, industrial development and digital infrastructure.
“East Africa needs energy, digitalisation, data centres and industrial localisation to unlock innovation and entrepreneurship,” Tricoire said.
The company said the launch reflects its long-term commitment to supporting sustainable development and expanding access to modern energy technologies in the region.
The new facility is located on the 10th floor of The Purple Tower along Mombasa Road in Nairobi.
