NAIROBI, Kenya Sept 15 – Political parties have been urged to strengthen their internal processes, including nominations, to help guarantee credible elections in 2027.
Office of the Registrar of Political Parties Registrar J.C. Lorinokou said fair and transparent party processes are critical to ensuring peaceful and credible elections.
Lorinokou, speaking at a stakeholders conference in Nairobi, also called on political parties to take responsibility for the conduct of their officials, members and supporters.
He warned that political actors who breach the law and the Political Parties Code of Conduct will face legal action.
The Registrar said political competition must not come at the expense of Kenya’s democracy, urging leaders to act responsibly and provide young people with meaningful opportunities to participate in politics.
The conference is organised by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission as part of preparations for peaceful 2027 elections.
