NAIROBI, Kenya, Aug 26 – Kenyan project professionals and students who are members of the PMI Kenya Chapter will have access to university scholarships of up to 80 percent under a three-year partnership with Unicaf.
The scholarships will cover selected Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programmes offered through Unicaf and its partner institutions.
The programme will allow project professionals to gain additional skills in areas such as business, leadership, finance and technology.
PMI Kenya Chapter President Maureen Mbithi Ochang said project professionals need to broaden their skills as their roles expand.
“The career of a project professional does not stand still. Professional certifications such as the PMP provide a strong foundation, and as professionals progress in their careers, they are increasingly called upon to understand the wider business, contribute to strategic conversations, lead people and transformation, and connect project delivery to organisational value.”
The partnership also covers students and early-career professionals who are PMI Kenya members, as well as their immediate families.
The programmes will be delivered online through institutions including the University of East London, University of Suffolk, University of California, Riverside Extension and Unicaf University.
PMI’s 2025 Pulse of the Profession report found that only 18 percent of project professionals demonstrate high business acumen, with those who do performing better in meeting business goals, schedules and budgets.
