Pauline Namwakira becomes Kenya’s second AWS Golden Jacket recipient

NAIROBI, Kenya, June 24 – Kenyan cloud educator and AWS Authorized Instructor Pauline Namwakira has become the second Kenyan to receive the AWS Golden Jacket, a recognition awarded to professionals who complete all active Amazon Web Services (AWS) certifications.

The achievement places her alongside Timothy Munyao, who became the first Kenyan to earn the recognition in 2025.

The AWS Golden Jacket is awarded to individuals who attain all active AWS certifications across foundational, associate, professional and specialty levels, covering areas such as cloud architecture, security, networking, machine learning and DevOps.

Namwakira, 23, began her cloud computing journey in 2021 through the AWS re/Start programme under the AWS Ajira Digital Programme while studying telecommunications at Kabarak University.

What started with a single AWS Cloud Practitioner certification grew into a five-year journey that saw her earn 13 AWS certifications and become an AWS Authorized Instructor.

She now trains professionals and organisations across East Africa on cloud technologies and digital skills.

Her recognition comes as Kenya continues to strengthen its position in the global cloud computing sector, with growing demand for expertise in cloud services, artificial intelligence and digital transformation.

Munyao, whose company provides cloud, data and artificial intelligence solutions across Africa and the Middle East, said the recognition demonstrates the growing maturity of Kenya’s technology ecosystem.

He noted that the increasing number of highly certified cloud professionals reflects the country’s ability to compete globally in digital skills and innovation.

Beyond her certifications, Namwakira has been involved in mentoring aspiring technology professionals and promoting cloud education among women, young people, persons with disabilities and career changers.

She said the achievement highlights the potential of Kenyan talent in the global technology industry and expressed hope that more professionals across Africa will pursue advanced cloud computing skills.

Namwakira plans to continue expanding her work in cloud education, artificial intelligence and machine learning while supporting efforts to increase access to technology training across the continent.
