Award-winning Kenyan singer, songwriter and producer Njerae today releases two new singles, “On My Own” featuring KayCyy and “Let Them Know.”
Released together, the two records present contrasting but connected emotional truths. “On My Own” is grounded in self-worth, accountability and the courage to walk away, while “Let Them Know” captures the unexpected vulnerability of forming a genuine romantic connection.

Produced by Vic West, “On My Own” reunites Njerae with Kenyan-born, U.S.-based Kenyan artist KayCyy following their 2025 collaboration, “Far Away.” Blending their distinct vocal styles and melodic approaches, the song unfolds as an emotionally direct conversation about love, mistakes, privacy and respect—and the moment when choosing yourself becomes necessary.
Reflecting on how their creative partnership has evolved, Njerae says:
“Far Away was our introduction to each other creatively. This time, everything felt a lot more natural. KayCyy has a way of bringing a different perspective melodically and emotionally, and I think we’ve both grown as artists since our first collaboration.”
Where “On My Own” is firm and self-assured, “Let Them Know” reveals a softer, less guarded side of Njerae. Produced by Jaz Beats, the song follows a confident woman who finds herself unexpectedly falling for someone and eventually decides that the connection is too powerful to keep hidden.
Njerae credits the songs’ distinct emotional worlds to the producers’ sensitivity to her songwriting.
“Vic West and Jaz Beats each brought something unique to the project, and that’s a big part of why the two songs feel so different emotionally,” she says. “They both understood that the emotion needed to lead, and they built worlds around the lyrics instead of competing with them. That’s what made each record feel true to itself.”
For Njerae, releasing the two songs together was a deliberate choice—one that reflects the complexity of experiencing healing, independence and vulnerability at the same time.
“I liked the contrast. ‘On My Own’ is about choosing yourself and finding peace in your own company, while ‘Let Them Know’ is much more vulnerable,” Njerae explains. “You can be healing and still have moments of vulnerability, and I wanted the music to make space for both.”
The paired release arrives amid sustained momentum for Njerae. Her breakout single “Aki Sioni” was named the most-streamed song in Kenya on Spotify in 2025, outperforming both local and international releases in the platform’s national year-end rankings. The record has since accumulated more than nine million Spotify streams, while Njerae currently reaches nearly 200,000 monthly listeners on the platform.
In July 2026, Njerae was nominated in the Best Female East Africa category at the African Muzik Magazine Awards—AFRIMMA. The recognition further reinforces her growing position as one of Kenya’s most compelling contemporary voices and an artist whose distinctly Kenyan storytelling continues to resonate across borders.
KayCyy joins “On My Own” during an equally significant chapter in his international career. In June 2026, the Kenyan-born artist officially joined A$AP Rocky’s AWGE creative collectiveand subsequently appeared on select dates during the North American leg of Rocky’s Don’t Be Dumb World Tour.
Known for moving fluidly between hip-hop, melodic songwriting and experimental sounds, KayCyy has built an expansive international catalogue. His credits include vocal and songwriting contributions to Kanye West’s Donda, including the Grammy-winning track “Hurricane,” as well as collaborations with prominent artists across hip-hop and alternative music.
He is also credited as a songwriter on Future and Tyla’s “Game Time,” released as part of the Official FIFA World Cup 2026 Album. His continued ability to bridge global hip-hop with melodic and genre-fluid songwriting makes him a natural creative partner for Njerae on “On My Own.”
Together, “On My Own” and “Let Them Know” open the next phase of Njerae’s artistic journey—one defined by emotional range, creative confidence and an expanding global outlook without losing the honesty that first connected her to listeners.
Both singles are available now on all major digital streaming platforms. Further releases and live performances from Njerae will follow throughout the remainder of 2026.
