Nameless sparks outrage online after admitting his serious distaste for avocados

Nameless may have made an irreparable mistake. With one careless comment, he could stand to lose a couple of fans.

One of Kenya’s biggest names in the entertainment industry may have just shot himself in the foot all thanks to a careless comment disregarding Kenya’s most important fruit, avocados. The’Megarider’ crooner took the photo-sharing app Instagram, to share his dislike for avocados. Posting an image of an avocado, Nameless wrote, “Came across this on someone’s timeline. Can we have more respect for those who don’t like avocado… We matter too!! Have more consideration guys. Ama namna gani my friends anyway wacha tu nisiongee mob hapa.”

Some were in agreement with his point of view while most were more than disappointed. Needless to say, the Avocado army flooded the comment section pointing out that his post revealing his aversion for one of the nation’s most beloved fruit may not bear well for him. Avocados are often consumed as an accompaniment to most meals and even eaten as a dish on its own.

@vickiewanja was outraged commenting “You take that back!!! Who the hell hates avocado??? What is wrong with you?”

real_wanambacha took a less abrasive approach, commenting “Boss you don’t know what you are missing????????????….ever heard of GUACAMOLE??”

fw_mungai even threatened to withdraw so support for his music. She wrote, “Please, usifanye I start listening to your music with one ear only! ???? Avo is bae. Cross over and join the movement.”

Kenyans not only consume the green, creamy fruit. Avocados have also been essential in improving income-generating streams for local Kenyan farmers. According to a report, statistics captured in the Economic Survey 2019, show that “the value of horticultural exports increased by 9.6 percent to Sh124.3 billion and accounted for 22.9 percent of total domestic exports in 2018. The growth was mainly driven by increases in exports of cut flowers and avocados, which more than doubled in 2018.”

A Business Daily report mentioned Kenya was the largest exporter of avocado in Africa in 2017, producing 191,000 tonnes of avocados per year with exports estimated at 51,507 tonnes. South Africa comes second with annual exports of 43,492 tonnes.
