KISUMU, Kenya, Sep 24 — A suspected thug was lynched at Kisumu’s Lolwe estate on Sunday morning following a botched robbery incident.
The suspect is said to have waylaid a resident arriving from Nairobi alongside two others who escaped on foot.
The three who were on a motorbike and armed with crude weapons waylaid a rider with his pillion passenger.
“I just alighted from Nairobi and was heading to the house when we were attack,” said the pillon.
Another rider who was passing by during the 6am incident raised an alarm prompting a response from neighbors.
The three suspects attempted to escape but the motorbike they were using veered off and landed into a ditch, two others managed to escape on foot from the angry mob.
The cornered suspect was beaten to death before his body was set ablaze alongside the motorbike.
The attacked rider and his pillion passenger suffered cut wounds and have been rushed to hospital for treatment.
The incident came barely a week after two suspected thugs were lynched in Kisumu’s Milimani area after snatching a phone from a pedestrian.
