NAIROBI, Kenya Aug 5 – The Mpesa Foundation has pledged Sh34 million to construct 10 classrooms at Mumbi Primary School in Nyandarua.
Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa announced that the funds will be used for constructing classrooms, latrines, an administration block, a school gate, a library, and an ICT center in both the primary and secondary school sections.
Additionally, a multipurpose hall and kitchen will be built.
“This development will significantly improve the learning environment for students, replacing the current dilapidated infrastructure,” he said.
He noted that the initiative is one of several in their pipeline known as “Citizens of the Future.”
Under this program, they empower young school children by providing them with standard learning equipment and constructing modern classrooms and water points in selected schools nationwide.
Nyandarua County Governor Kiarie Badilisha, present at the groundbreaking ceremony, also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to elevate education standards in the region.
Moreover, as part of its efforts, the Mpesa Foundation will be planting 100 fruit tree seedlings in various schools across the county.
