NAIROBI, Kenya, Jan 16 – The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has reiterated the significance of customs bonds in securing customs duties and ensuring smooth cross-border trade.
Bonds are essential in various scenarios, including goods transit and temporary imports, and involve importers, exporters, sureties, and the Commissioner.
Financial institutions acting as sureties have been advised to monitor compliance to avoid liability.
Failure to meet bond terms could result in penalties, interest, and legal action, with the Tax Appeals Tribunal rulings underscoring the importance of proper adherence to customs requirements.
