Influential content creator and social media influencer Jacky Vike has snagged a brand ambassadorial role with the Ministry of Health.
The funnywoman who also doubles up as an actress announced her new role with Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) with posts on her social media.”Ladies and gentlemen, I give you the new Brand Ambassador for Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs). It was such an honour to get this role the same day we are celebrating the world day for NTDs. Tuanze kazi sasa,” She wrote.
The diseases are termed ‘neglected’ because they characteristically affect developing countries and do not get accorded as much attention as other diseases. They are chronic disabling infections affecting more than a billion people worlwide, mostly those living in rural and urban slums. Such tend to thrive in developing regions of the world, where clean water supply, sanitation, and access to health care services are scarce.
The theme for the 2023 NTDs celebrations was Act Now. Act Together. Invest in Neglected Tropical Diseases.
