InterContinental Hotel Nairobi has been observing the Responsible Business Week, in line with UNESCO’s mission to protect and preserve unique natural and cultural heritage sites. This marks the third year of Intercontinental Hotel’s Responsible Business Week observed in partnership with National Geographic.

Pomp and dance is what filled the Intercontinental Hotel Nairobi last Wednesday night as hotel guests converged in a melting pot of cultures to celebrate this cultural event. The cocktail event brought together guests from different cultural extractions to interact and share cultural experiences, as well as celebrate diversity.

In partnership with National Geographic’s Center for Sustainable Destinations, Responsible Business Week involves engaging InterContinental hotels from around the world in activities that ensure their locales remain appealing to visit for future generations.

Normally during the responsible business week activities range from cleaning historical sites to guest experiences around local craft and wildlife conservation projects, all demonstrating InterContinental Hotels & Resorts’ commitment to protecting the world’s cultures and heritage.

In marking the Responsible Business Week, Intercontinental Nairobi has undertaken various activities including opening its hotel lobby to traders from the Maasai Market to display their artifacts. The hotel staff accompanied by foreign guests will also, over the weekend, tour and clean up the Maasai Market near the Nairobi Law Courts. The hotel guests will also be taken on a concierge tour of key heritage sites within the city, such as the National Archives, Kipande House and ultimately the Bomas of Kenya.
