HACO expands manufacturing of Amara lotion to Ghana

NAIROBI, Kenya, October 7 – Kenyan consumer goods manufacturer HACO Industries has signed a deal with Ghana-based Ayewa Aberfur to manufacture and distribute its Amara lotion in Ghana.

The agreement will allow HACO to produce the skincare brand locally in Ghana as it expands its presence in West Africa.

HACO said Ghana was selected as a strategic entry point into the region following market research that identified opportunities linked to the country’s economy, business environment and regional position.

Under the agreement, HACO will provide technical expertise, product standards and manufacturing systems, while Ayewa Aberfur will contribute its product development and manufacturing experience and knowledge of the Ghanaian market.

HACO will retain oversight of key product formulations, quality standards and technical processes while supporting the local production of Amara lotion.

The partnership has involved product testing, stability checks, technical training and reviews of manufacturing operations.

The two companies will also carry out regular audits and share quality controls to maintain consistent product standards.

HACO Managing Director Mary-Ann Musangi said the partnership will help connect manufacturing capabilities with markets across Africa.

“Our partnership with Ayewa Aberfur brings together technical expertise and local knowledge to establish a strong foundation for manufacturing Amara in Ghana, while creating opportunities to strengthen the African value chains that support our brands,” Musangi said.

HACO manufactures about 90 products across haircare, skincare, homecare and plastics. Its brands reach more than three million families across Africa.

The company also works with more than 500 farmers across the continent to source raw materials.

HACO said the Ghana operation will support its wider strategy of producing closer to consumers while strengthening regional supply chains.

The partnership is also expected to support the objectives of the African Continental Free Trade Area by increasing intra-African trade and regional manufacturing.

HACO plans to expand its presence to 30 African countries by 2030 and establish five manufacturing hubs across the continent.

The company said the Ghana partnership is part of its plan to build manufacturing capacity closer to consumers and expand African brands across the continent.
