NAIROBI, Kenya Mar 31- Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has told Azimio La Umoja Leader Raila Odinga that President William Ruto has no power to reinstate the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) commissioners or open the servers.
The Deputy President termed the demands by Odinga on electoral reforms which include the opening of the IEBC servers and reinstatement of Cherera four who resigned as unrealistic and outside the confines of the law.
“The President cannot reinstate the IEBC commissioners; he doesn’t have that power or authority. The President would not even know where the servers are stored because it’s not his work,” said Gachagua.
Gachagua claimed that the Azimio protests are no longer demonstrations but post-election violence urging the police officers to protect the lives property and businesses during the opposition picketing.
“We are not aware where the servers are, if you have some information tell us so that we can tell the people who are perpetrating post-election violence where it is and stop ruining the business of other people,” he said.
Odinga had asked President William Ruto to open the servers saying his victory was stolen hence the fear to heed the request by the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya.
He reiterated that he won the elections with 8.9 Million votes according to the revelations made by a whistleblower working at the poll agency.
“My people, they stole the election, the whistleblower clearly shows it. Otherwise, they’d open the server; what’s the fear? They then corrupted the Supreme Court as they did with the IEBC,” Odinga tweeted.
The Azimio La Umoja Leader stated that Monday will mark the end of the oppression of Kenyans due to the high cost of living and oppression of his demonstrators.
“Now they are stealing from Kenyans; refusing to subsidize the cost of living yet stealing from public coffers. At this instant they are shooting and killing Kenyans. It has to stop on Monday. Their time is up. Let them count down the hours till Monday,” he said.
On Thursday, Odinga announced the ‘mother of all demonstrations’ on Monday next week after police blocked him from accessing Jacaranda grounds on Thursday.
He said he will have no option but to mobilize more protests unless the Kenya Kwanza government addresses their concerns, among them the high cost of living and electoral reforms.
