Jamaican superstar Sean Paul is known world over for his dancehall hits like Everblazin’, Like Glue, Temperature, Get Busy and more. He has been in the industry for more than two decades and he is not stopping anytime soon.
The Sauce got busy with the Dancehall king in an exclusive interview recently where he opened up about his music, his legacy, how he takes care of his mental health, the lucrative cannabis business and he set the record straight on what really happened to his phone during is 2004 visit to Kenya.
The Grammy award winner is in between albums, he dropped the ultimate collaborative album titled ‘Live n Livin’ in March 2021. It features the likes of Busy Signal, Mavado, Damian Marley, Serani, Bugle, Govanna and many more.
During the interview he revealed that his second album of the year called ‘Scorcha’ is coming sometime in September and that he has a new single titled ‘Only Fanz’ with American rapper Ty Dolla Sign dropping on August 13th 2021.
On how he took care of his mental health during the lockdowns last year during the pandemic, the father of two revealed his family kept him grounded.
The world renowned hitmaker noted that his collabo with Beyonce titled ‘Baby Boy’ in 2003 is his most impactful collaboration to date. This is because it merged two different genres, cultures and fans. According to him this was a good partnership that brought on the spotlight to their careers.
Dutty Paul as he is also known as, did not shy away from shouting out his lady fans whom he attributes his success to. He is known to make sexy and provocative songs that women from all around the world appreciate.
The ‘Got To Luv U’ hitmaker also recognized the impact of social media in promoting music in this day and age. This after ‘Temperature’ a hit song from 16 years ago found a new life of the short video platform, TikTok.
The 48 year old performed in Kenya back in 2004 while his song ‘Everblazin’ was massive hit. However, this visit was marred by reports that his phone was stolen by fans. During the interview, the Jamaican superstar clarified by revealing he had only misplaced his phone at the time but not lost it as it had been widely reported.
He also revealed that he had invested in the Cannabis Business which is all the rage right now in order to have access of highgrade marijuana.
The dancehall king can’t wait to visit and perform in Kenya when the COVID-19 restrictions are lifted.
