NAIROBI, Kenya, June 11 – Konza Technopolis has unveiled an $8 million pneumatic waste collection system by Envac, boosting its green and digital transformation efforts.
The system, implemented by Italian firm ICM S.p.A., will serve over 30,000 residents and handle up to 40 tons of waste daily, positioning Konza as a leader in sustainable urban infrastructure.
Key features include 100 disposal points, a 15-kilometer underground pipe network, and sensor-triggered valves that automate waste collection into a centralized facility.
Konza CEO John Paul Okwiri said the smart system promotes eco-conscious living, while Envac EMEA President Carlos Bernad emphasized its role in cutting emissions and improving recycling.
