NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 18 – The government has extended the period for the publication of names and qualifications of applicants and shortlisted candidates for the position of Chairperson and Members of the Media Council of Kenya (MCK).
This is after the Employment and Labour Relations Court stopped the recruitment process after a petitioner cited what he describes as a “conflict of interest” in the recruitment panel and most of the shortlisted candidates mainly from the Nation Media Group (NMG).
The period has been extended by a further fourteen days by Information and Communication Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo.
“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by section 7 (13) of the Media Council Act, 2013, the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy extends the period for the publication of names and qualifications of all the applicants and shortlisted candidates for the position of Chairperson and Members of the Media Council of Kenya, by a further fourteen (14) days,” the gazette notice read.
