NAIROBI, Kenya, Mar 15 – The Business Registration Service (BRS) has onboarded 15 new services to boost online services.
The new services include hire-purchase business license application, company secretary appointment, cessation of business name, and name change for entities.
Others are location changes for firms, amendment of articles for all companies, and the cessation of the company secretary, among others.
“Since we commenced transition to the new improved platform on Friday, March 6, 2023, we have onboarded fifteen (15) key services,” BRS Director General Kenneth Gathuma said.
On Sunday, BRS upgraded its system to a new platform as it seeks to offer customers the best services.
It migrated business and company data to a better system.
BRS is a state corporation that administers policies, laws, and other matters relating to the registration of companies, partnerships, and firms, as well as corporations carrying on business under a business name, bankruptcy, hire-purchase, and security rights (Section 4(1) of the BRS Act, 2015).
It maintains firms’ registers, data, and records on a central database.
However, it says that during the onboarding process, it experienced numerous technical challenges that were later addressed.
“Following this intervention, the number of services onboarded on the new platform will increase significantly,” he said.
“We also commenced processing applications and we anticipate to quickly address the backlog within the shortest time possible.”
