NAIROBI, Kenya, June 18 – Motorists using Shell stations across the country will on Friday buy premium Shell V-Power fuel at the same price as regular Shell FuelSave Unleaded in a one-day customer appreciation offer by Vivo Energy Kenya.
The promotion, dubbed “Shell Magical Friday,” will be available at Shell service stations nationwide as the oil marketer seeks to reward customers amid a competitive fuel retail market.
Vivo Energy Kenya Managing Director Peter Murungi said the initiative is aimed at appreciating customers who have continued to use the company’s products despite prevailing market challenges.
Shell V-Power is Vivo Energy Kenya’s premium fuel product and is marketed as offering enhanced engine performance and protection through engine-cleaning additives.
The offer comes as oil marketing companies continue to compete for motorists through loyalty programmes, fuel quality differentiation, and value-added services at service stations.
Separately, Vivo Energy Kenya will on Saturday partner with Inchcape Kenya and the BMW Owners Club Kenya to host an automotive enthusiasts’ event focused on developments in Kenya’s premium vehicle segment.
The company operates more than 340 Shell-branded service stations across Kenya and remains one of the country’s largest oil marketers, serving retail and commercial customers with fuels, lubricants, aviation fuel, LPG and other petroleum products.
Vivo Energy Kenya entered the Kenyan market in 2012 after acquiring Shell’s downstream business from Shell Kenya Ltd.
According to industry data, it currently holds about 20 percent of the local oil marketing sector.
