In this ‘snippet’ culture, older and newer songs are finding life on the app. Lately, this network of nonstop viral videos has blasted us to the past with tons of good music in rotation.
Love Story – Taylor Swift (Remixed by Disco Lines)
2008’s “Love Story” is a top hit yet again thanks to a new remix by DJ Disco Lines. More than 5.4 million videos on TikTok use the remixed track, in part thanks to a trend where dancers show off their moves while the camera zooms out and reveals more of the scene. Disco Lines made it his own sound, but he pays homage to Taylor Swift’s most romantic era, reminding us
all the singer’s old fairytale days.
Makeba – Jain
The 2015 track by French artist Jain is making its rounds on the app thanks to a meme of Bill Hader dancing which has since morphed into, you guessed it, a new dance trend.There are currently 1 million TikTok videos that have used “Makeba” as a sound. Videos featuring the short dance and viral song — which have amassed millions of views each — first started popping up in May with the trend officially taking over in June and continuing into early July.
But “Makeba,” the revived dance hit fueling the craze, honours a real person: famed South African activist Miriam Makeba.
‘Lottery’ by K Camp
The Renegade Dance song is actually ‘Lottery,’ released by Kristopher ‘K CAMP’ Campbell in 2019. The rap song quickly became one of TikTok’s most popular dance challenges, countless impressions.

One of the Grammy winner’s smash hits, ‘Like This’ featuring rapper Eve was the lead single off her sophomore album, Ms. Kelly. It was released in 2007, peaking at #30 on the Billboard Hot 100. The iconic singer churned this Billboard chart topper in 2008, garnering her 18th number one record on the chart. Up to 1.4 million impressions have so far seen the light of day on TikTok. The icon who bears a 5-octave vocal range recently hopped on the challenge and fans cannot get enough.

The cultic classic was written by Jim Steinman and performed by Pandora’s Box in 1989. In 1996, Celine Dion released her own version of the song, and over the last year, it has become one of TikTok’s many viral hits.
