BRUSSELS, Feb. 1 (Xinhua) — Protesting farmers blocked the roads around the EU summit gathering the bloc’s 27 leaders scheduled on Thursday with about 1,000 tractors, AP news quoted the police as saying.
The protesters were understood to show their complaints about taxes, rising costs and cheap imports, and asked EU leaders to do more help.
The special EU summit is to discuss the midterm revision of the EU’s Multiannual Financial Framework, assistance to Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East, said European Council President Charles Michel in an invitation letter to members of the European Council ahead of the summit.
